Topping Ideas from Van!

Here are a few ideas for those of you that would like to be a bit more adventurous with your Van Harden Cheese Crust
Pizza. The sky is the limit as to what you can create and I'm still discovering new ways to top a pizza almost daily!

Everyone has their own taste, but my favorite so far is the Portabella/Bacon cheese crust pizza. I just go to the store and buy the Van Harden plain cheese, Cheese Crust Pizza. (Yes, I do buy my own at the store. This way I don't have to start from scratch anymore creating the cheese crust first.) I get fresh portabella mushrooms from the produce department and a pack of pre-cooked bacon. You can cut both to whatever size you want, but I usually cut the mushrooms and bacon into slices half the size of my thumb. Top the pizza as generously as you want. Bake for the recommended time & Don't Forget... Let It Set!

I've also done veggie pizzas and supremes with the works. It's amazing how the cheese crust seems to bring out even more flavor in the toppings. Another of my favories is the Hawaiian, in which I use Canadian Bacon and Pineapple. I've noticed that people either love that one or don't like it at all without much in-between.

PIZZA ON THE GRILL THIS SUMMER? VAN MAKES IT EASY!

Just like the famous cheese crust pizza he invented, he found a way to avoid a hot kitchen in the summer and bake fabulous cheese crust pizzas on the grill! It took a while to perfect, but Van says it’s easy once you know how. He says he likes them even better than oven-cooked!

Since the now famous Van Harden Cheese Crust Pizza comes in it's own pan, it is easy! Get the Van Harden Cheese Crust Pizza at any Hy-Vee store! Van never dreamed that grilling a Cheese Crust pizza would work since the pan is actually paper based, and he did have a few failures at first when he tried grilling it with the same oven baking instructions given on the box. 450 degrees was just too hot. So he tried it at 350 on the grill and bingo! After 10 or 15 minutes he had fabulous bubbling Cheese Crust Pizza, and so can you! Enjoy it inside or out!

Let your creativity take it from here! And happy eating!

We have heard from a few of you regarding other toppings you have tried. See what creations others have come up with...

We added fresh mushrooms, black olives, green onions, tomato, parmesan and colby jack cheese.

We eat them as slices or roll them up to dip in Ranch dressing!

My wife makes this totally awesome garlic chicken pizza that does not call for tomato sauce. This would make a nice addition to your cheese crust pizza.

Also works in the Presto Pizzazz Pizza Maker!
